Ahmed Jadallah / Reuters Security forces on Tuesday killed three suspected jihadists, including a Tunisian, as they tried to arrest them in the town of Kasserine in the central Draâ Province, where about 100 people were killed in an attack last week. A Tunisian witness told Reuters news agency that the arrests took place in a house in Kasserine, where one of the suspected terrorists was hiding. Local sources said that a man called Hammou Ben Ammar had been arrested in a street in Kasserine. According to a security source, the man was in possession of a Kalashnikov rifle and was suspected of having ties with the jihadists from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. But the source said there had been no connection with the deadly attacks in Tunisia. The security source said the gunmen arrested on Tuesday, who were arrested together with the suspected Tunisian, were from the same cell as the two jihadists who carried out the attacks in Tunisia. The suspected attackers were killed by security forces after they fired on them, the source added. In an earlier incident, an air force unit, backed by police officers, killed three suspected jihadists, including a Tunisian, as they tried to arrest them in the town of Kasserine. The Interior Ministry said the three people had been suspected of links with the attacks that killed more than 20 people in Sousse on Friday. The police arrested one of the suspected jihadists on Monday night after finding him in the town of Ifrane in the western Zarzis Province. A Tunisian man found carrying a bag of weapons at the scene of the attack has been named as the third suspected attacker in Kasserine. Two French suspects were killed by a car bomb explosion on Saturday while they were leaving a courthouse where they were being held on suspicion of links to the jihadist group Al-Qaeda.
